Oil Filters

The purpose of oil is to cool and lubricate the engine and power transmission components. Oil filters remove the solid particles, such as combustion residue, metal particles and dust from engine oil, thus maintaining its lubrication capability and avoiding friction and overheating in the engine. Champion® oil filters help protect sensitive engine parts, including very high-performance engines. The filters provide maximum filtration with resin impregnated paper that is folded for maximum filtration surface area. The filtration media (paper) is thicker and stronger than many competitors’ and has a burst strength of 487 kPa. The canister is mechanically sealed for durability in high temperature and high pressure conditions, all metal components are plated to ensure high corrosion resistance. The oil filter’s bypass valve is an effective safety precaution that ensures the continuous flow of oil to the engine during cold starts and in the unlikely event that the filtration medium becomes blocked. An anti-drain valve prevents oil draining back to the sump, preventing dry starts which can cause serious abrasive wear to the engine. Rigorous tests are conducted during the development process, and during the manufacturing process every Champion® filter undergoes a non-destructive leak test to ensure maximum performance.
